- The CIOSS Year 5 1-Year No-Cost Extension FINAL Progress Report is available online, covering projects finishing during the period April 1, 2008 - May 31, 2009.

- A meeting of the CIOSS Executive Board was held at the NOAA offices in Silver Spring, MD on September 4, 2009. Topics of discussion included a review of CIOSS’ current status and future opportunities. A reunion of the Local Council of Fellows members was held on August 31, 2009 to prepare for this meeting. A summary can be found here.

- CIOSS participated in the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences' 50th Anniversary celebration July 17-19, 2009. The CIOSS booth was comprised of two computers that showed sea surface temperature and height from 1996-1998, highlighing the 1997 El Nino event. A poster behind the tables explained how we use satellite data to see the ocean. In addition, a model of a satellite was hung overhead.

- Update: A new website has been made to show past SMILE Highschool Challenges, along with photos and teacher activities.
The SMILE Highschool Challenge Event was held at Western Oregon University and Oregon State University on April 16-17, 2009. The theme for this year's challenge was "Ocean Science: Microbes to Whales". Club activities and a review of the event are available on the web.

- A Chronology of CIOSS Activities (doc) has been made available detailing events from 2007 through the present. It can be found on the navigation bar under Reports & Publications.
